I love the way the restaurant managed to turn around some initial issues and leave you with such a wonderful experience - a sign of true dedication to customer service. Shame you had a bad experience - we've been again since and it was really good again. I must admit that I rarely go back to a place if I didn't like it, but sometimes people have off days, like we all do. Did you comment back to the owners? I think it's always worth telling them. I found it overpriced!!! Actually three of of did. £3.50 for a tiny (and I mean tiny) serving of veggies. The shepherds pie was OK - the meat tasty but the potatoes soft and not browned enough. My husband had the lamb rack and one of the chops was more fat than meat. If you order the shepherds pie on it's own it is £12 - and that's with no veg - a bit over the top for a bit of mince with mashed potatoes I think. Then the bill was wrong!!! One of the party had the whole plaice and declared it superb - so praise where praise is due. I have to say that we really don't feel we got value for money - prepared to pay but left feeling ripped off. Won't be going again.
